2009 CMAWNY CHALLENGE TOURNAMENT
RULES AND REGULATIONS
Forms and Weapons
- Judged on a scale of 1-10, by intervals of 1/10th points
- Judges will be looking for Power, Focus, Fluidity and Control
- There will be 5 judges per ring.
- Scores will be given after completion of form.
- Highest total of 5 scores wins.
- In event of a tie, the low score will be dropped.
- If there is still a tie, the high score will be dropped.
- If still tied, they will redo their form.
Self Defense
-Competitors will perform 4 separate Self-Defense Techniques
- Judged on a scale of 1-10, by intervals of 1/10th points
- Judges will be looking for Power, Focus, Fluidity and Control
- There will be 5 judges per ring.
- Scores will be given after completion of form.
- Highest total of 5 scores wins.
- In event of a tie, the low score will be dropped.
- If there is still a tie, the high score will be dropped.
- If still tied, they will do a self-defense technique not yet seen.
Sparring
- 4 Points or 60 second time limit
- 4 Judges & 1 Head Judge per ring
- After time is called. The head judge will state: - "JUDGES READY" - "JUDGES
SCORE"
- At this time all judges including head judge will score the call
- Competitor will need atleast 3 votes in order to score a point
- If tie after 60 seconds, there will be a "Golden Point" OT
- Sparring Gear is optional.
- Mouth Guards mandatory for Youth and Kids Divisions
- Cups mandatory for Male Competitors
- ABSOLUTELY NO COACHING
- This includes Instructors, Parents, Peers.
- Coaching is defined as: Calling out verbally
or with handsignals what technique to use to score a point on an opponent.
Supporting the competitor is encouraged as long as it does not involve techniques.
- If coaching occurs the ring will be stopped. The Head Arbitrator and myself
will be called the to ring and a warning
will be given. If it continues, the competitor will be disqualified.
Scoring of Points
- A point is from the Belt to the Head, including the sides.
- To be considered a point, the technique will have show the ability to make
contact if control was not used.
- No Points will be scored to the back or below the belt
Penalties
Running out of the ring
1st Time = Warning
2nd Time = Warning
3rd + Times = Minus 1 Pt
Endangering oneself
- Turning your back on your opponent
- Engaging the opponent with guard down
- Not protecting oneself
1st Time = Warning
2nd Time = Minus 1 Pt
3rd Time = DQ
Head Contact*
1st Time = Minus 1 Pt
2nd Time = DQ
* Judges can DQ on 1st offense if strike Malicious or Blood Drawn
Body Contact
Touching of the Uniform is allowed (no excessive force)
Excessive force: which is defined as Shocking
or Trembling Force where the competitor is visably shaken or physically
moved will result in the following deductions.
1st Time* = Warning
2nd Time = Minus 1 Pt
3rd Time = DQ
* Judges can Minus a Pt on the 1st offense if the safety of the opponent
is in jeopardy.
